Inspired by my latest dual sport motorcycling injury – this time a pulled and, hopefully not, torn Achilles tendon — I give you my Top 10 list: ![]()
- 10. Dual sport bikes are NOT motocross bikes
- 9. Dual sport bikes don’t handle motocross bikes
- 8. You cannot do what you can do on an MX bike
- 7. Dual sport bikes have piss-poor power-to-weight ratios
- 6. Lying on your leg, dual sports are heavy
- 5. You have to know and continually remind yourself of all of the above
- 4. You weigh more than you used to
- 3. It hurts when you crash
- 2. It’s “inconvenient” to crash while solo dual sporting
- And number 1: You only think you’re 13 years old!
Seriously, I love dual sporting and have no intention of giving it up, but I’ve yet to learn ANY of the items in my top 10. Or if I have, I forget them every time I get on the bike! I can jump that! That trail’s not too gnarly! That hill’s not too steep! I keep saying those things and keep finding that my little KLX400 doesn’t believe me! Damn motorcycle! ![]()

“little KLX400″
Oh yeah? Try it on a DR200!
Also: I agree with everything on your list.
